Celebrating VE Day
At Court House, residents, staff, and visitors came together to celebrate VE Day with warmth, laughter and reflection on Thursday 8th May.
The garden looked fantastic, decorated with flags and bunting in red, white and blue, and the sunshine made it even more perfect.
Residents gathered outdoors to enjoy the relaxed atmosphere, share memories, and take part in the celebrations. Our team laid on a lovely buffet, complete with sandwiches, sausage rolls, and homemade cakes, all the traditional favourites that went down a treat.
Although we didn’t have live entertainment this year, a nostalgic playlist full of wartime tunes and well-loved classics, which played softly in the background. It brought a real sense of joy, and it was lovely to see residents tapping their feet, singing along, and chatting about the songs they remembered from years gone by.
There was a real feeling of community and of honouring the past while enjoying the present.
As Annamaria Driment, Home Manager, says: "It was a chance to pause and reflect on the bravery, sacrifice and resilience of those who lived through the Second World War, and to honour the freedom their courage helped secure for future generations."
Thank you to our brilliant staff for making the day so special, and to our residents for bringing such warmth and spirit to the celebration.
