A positive and productive February
We are delighted to begin this month’s update by congratulating several members of our team who have successfully completed their Care Certificate, an important milestone in professional development within the care sector. The Care Certificate ensures that staff are fully trained in the fundamental standards required to provide safe, compassionate and high-quality care, and we are extremely proud of the dedication and commitment shown by those who have worked hard to achieve it. Ongoing learning plays a vital role in maintaining the standards our residents and their families expect, and it is always encouraging to see team members growing in both confidence and capability as they develop their skills.
Alongside professional achievements, February has been filled with activity and shared experiences across the home, helping to keep spirits high during the colder weeks. Pancake Day proved to be a particular highlight, with the kitchen team busy from the morning preparing fresh pancakes that filled the home with a welcoming aroma and drew residents together to enjoy the occasion. Everyone had the opportunity to choose their own toppings, whether sticking with the traditional combination of sugar and lemon or opting for something a little more indulgent such as chocolate, honey, marshmallows or bananas. The activity prompted plenty of conversation, with residents reminiscing about past Pancake Day celebrations with family and friends, and it provided a relaxed and sociable afternoon that was enjoyed by all.
There was also a strong sense of friendly competition during our Court House Skittles Trophy challenge, which brought residents and staff together for an afternoon of encouragement, laughter and teamwork. The games area was lively as participants took their turns, with cheers and good-natured banter creating a great atmosphere throughout. Congratulations go to Trevor, who claimed the February title and proudly lifted the trophy, although the real success of the event lay in the enjoyment, gentle exercise and social connection it encouraged for everyone involved.
We were equally pleased to celebrate a special milestone for a valued member of our team, as our maintenance man Tim marked his 60th birthday. Tim plays an essential role in ensuring the home remains safe, comfortable and well maintained for residents, and his willingness to help wherever needed makes a real difference to daily life at Court House.
Despite the winter weather, residents have continued to spend meaningful time engaging with the outdoors by caring for the birds in our garden. Preparing homemade bird treats has provided a purposeful and hands-on activity, offering both creativity and calm, while watching the birds visit the feeders has sparked conversation and created peaceful moments of connection with nature.
As we move into the coming month, our focus remains on maintaining a welcoming, supportive and engaging environment where residents feel comfortable, valued and well cared for, and where families can feel confident in the quality of care and community we provide
